Sources of Renewable Energy

Barnes Webster has an understanding for the need for renewable sources
of energy and where they can be used most effectively during and
after construction.

The common renewable sources we have looked at in the past are wind farms, although these have a large potential in the UK, probably the largest
in Europe, they are one of the most cost effective and furthest developed.  But there are problems with Planning issues with on-shore wind farms, but
off short turbines are just being developed and this has enormous potential we are monitoring the situation with great anticipation, that in the near future we will be able to use this energy source in one of our schemes.

Solar enegy involves capturing and harnessing the suns energy. The three ways we have looked at in the past are passive solar deisngs which ensures that a builing’s form and fabric catches the sun’s energy and reduces the need for artificial light and heating i.e. south facing windows.

Active solar water heating uses collectors, these can be sited on the roofs
of buildings where permissible to capture the sun’s heat via water storage systems. Collectors provide heat to... that circulates to a water tanks.
This system works very well on domestic dwellings.

Solar photovoltaic, these are commonly know as solar panels or solar cells, they are normally situated on the roof, south facing, and their principal aim
is to convert day light into electricity. These can be very good back source
to reduce energy usage.

We are currently looking at biofuels and bioengine for our company vehicles with a view to contributing our part to CO2 emissions
